Raymond McCauley is a scientist, engineer, and entrepreneur who is at the forefront of biotechnology. He is Chair of Biotechnology at Singularity University. He is co-founder and chief architect of BioCurious (http://biocurious.org/), a non-profit technical laboratory and library for scientists, activists, and students interested in technological innovation. He is part of the team that developed DNA sequencing at Illumina, where he worked on bioinformatics, cancer sequencing, and personal genomics. His work and history have been published in Wired, Forbes, Time and Nature.Raymond McCauley's graduate work includes studies at Texas A&M University, Stanford, and UC Berkeley in electrical engineering, computer science, biophysics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and nanotechnology. He has worked at Genomera, Illumina, Ingenuity Systems, TANSTAAFL Media, QIAGEN, Viatel, NASA, and other federal agencies. Raymond develops and advises a variety of companies and organizations, including Genomera (publicly funded clinical trials), Vecoy Nanomedicines (synthetic biology antivirus platform), Androcyte (longevity research), and Nanokit (DNA origami).
